Volunteer opportunities

Each year, the Samaritan Worldview serves over xx meals, distributes xxx items of clothing, and provides xx nights of shelter. We could not do this without the support of our volunteer staff. Volunteering at the Samaritan Worldview is a great way to give back to the community and a very rewarding experience. We would love to have you join our team of dedicated volunteers!

Current volunteering openings

  • Purpose: Meal Servers serve meals to the mission's guests on time and according to the kitchen staff’s meal plan and health safety guidelines.

    Work Location: Burien Transit Center

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Find out what is being served for the upcoming meal and how the kitchen staff would like it served on the trays.

    • Assemble plates with the meal components.

    • Warmly greet guests of the mission.  Thanking them for eating with us.

    • Work with a staff member or other volunteer to divide tasks for efficient service.

    • After service, wipe up the area and ask the kitchen staff how else to clean up.

    • Be a positive influence on guests and staff.

    Reports to: Kitchen Supervisor

    Time Commitment:

    • 4:30 to 7: 30 pm

    • The outreach shift is from 5 pm to 7 pm.

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for helping others, in particular, people who are experiencing homelessness.

    • Willingness to receive and follow directions.

    • Flexibility to help wherever needed.

    • Ability to stand and assemble plates for an hour.

    • Good customer service skills.

    • Sign the Volunteer Agreement / Release of Liability Form

    • 16 years or older.  Volunteers 14 – 15 can volunteer with adult accompaniment.  Volunteers under 18 need to provide parental consent.
