Volunteer Opportunities

  • Come volunteer on outreach!

    Age requirement: Volunteers must be 16+ because of the sensitivity of our work
    Location: Downtown Burien
    Day/time: every Friday, 5:00 - 7:00 pm

    Outreach volunteer will be contributing to the Samaritan Worldview outreach efforts in the community.

    You will attend outreach meetings and trainings, go into the community and provide services for individuals and families in the community. Our outreach workers always work in pairs.

    Tasks
    • Providing and stocking outreach kits
    • Attend outreach meeting/trainings • Learn and understand basic Samaritan Worldview principles
    • Going outside with SWV Outreach Staff to build relationships and trust with people experiencing homelessness, and meeting them where they are to encourage them to access services.

    Skills
    • Excellent verbal communication skills •
    Ability to interact and work closely with people experiencing homelessness, trauma, mental and behavioral health symptoms
    • Maintain client confidentiality
    • Knowledge of local community resources
    • Comfortable being around people exhibiting substance use behavior symptoms
    • Uphold the high ethics, values and customer service standards of SWV
